Unemployed in Iowa, Krystal Garber came to Williston, N.D. with her fiancé and three children looking for work. We found her in the Walmart parking lot, begging for money so she could fix her car and leave. Her fiancé found a job cleaning oil pipes, but they could not find a place to stay. So the family spends most nights sleeping sitting up in their SUV while paying $3 per person to shower at a local recreation center.
