In the oil boom economy of Williston, N.D. hotels are booked for months, apartment vacancies are rare and homes sell the day they are listed. Williston resident Kathy Walton, a widow, rents space in her home to job-seekers until they find jobs and shelter in the area. Says Walton, “The recession hasn’t been forgotten here. We feel it every day because it’s brought here every day by the people that come.”
From the story, Williston: The Town the Recession Forgot, shot for Advertising Age.
